Farm management papers [manuscript] (1812) 1835-1870 (1900).

Chiefly receipts and accounts detailing every phase of the operation at Rosny, Buckingham Co., Ca Ira, Cumberland Co., and Tye River Quarter, Nelson Co. including general merchandise, seeds, slaves, doctors, lumber, fertilizer, overseers, masonry, tavern expenses, debts, bonds, deeds--esp. for Amherst Co. lands--blacksmith's work, factor's charges, personal items, etc. Notebooks, 1836-62, were kept by Hubard for the instruction of his sons in agricultural methods and the produce of his farms [3 items]. There is some correspondence from his sons while at Episcopal High School, Fairfax Co., the Brookland School, Greenwood, Va., and U. Va. discussing their life and expenses. Later material is chiefly of this son Robert Thruston Hubard, incl. his U. Va. law notes, 1861, legal correspondence, and correspondence regarding railroad speculation. Correspondents and others incl.: Philip Pendleton Barbour, Leneaus Bolling, his father-in-law; John Warwick Daniel, Davenport and Co., Richmond, Va; Henry Edmunds; John W. Fisher; Alfred T. Harris; Edmund Wilcox Hubard, his brother Edmund Wilcox Hubard, his son; James T. Hubard his father; William Bolling Hubard, his son; George Jones, and Thomas Staples Martin.
